Disaster Recovery Case Management

Through Disaster Recovery Case Management (DRCM), affected residents are placed in contact with the resources they need to move along in the recovery process. Case advocates work with individuals or families through the entire process, utilizing federal, state, and community resources and developing individualized recovery plans.
The emphasis of DRCM is placed on timely and quality case management services to help facilitate the equitable distribution of disaster-related resources, including outreach to vulnerable populations.
Long-Term Recovery Committees
Long-Term Recovery Committees (LTRCs) are local community organizations designed to meet the needs of a community after a disaster. LTRCs connect those affected by the disaster with the local agencies and resources they need to complete the recovery process..
A second function of the LTRCs is to connect volunteers with local agencies and organizations that have a need for assistance.

Individual Unmet Needs Assistance
This program has expired and is no longer active.
The $56 million disaster recovery bill (HF 64) signed into law on Feb. 2, 2009 appropriated $10 million for individual disaster grants for unmet needs due to the disaster. This resulted in the Iowa Unmet Needs Disaster Grant Program administered by the Iowa Department of Human Services and local Long-Term Recover Committees with support from the Rebuild Iowa Office.
The Iowa Unmet Needs Disaster Grant Program application deadline was Oct. 16, 2009. However, disaster-affected Iowans are encouraged to contact their local Long-Term Recovery Committee for other assistance opportunities that may be available.
